Alamo going to electronic kiosks
The latest to get serious about electronic check-in kiosks: Alamo Rent A Car.
The company is currently testing a system at Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport.
Alamo previously tested it at Dallas/Fort Worth and plans a repeat this summer in Orlando.
The company plans to roll it out to other locations later this year.
Its kiosk system uses touch screen technology. Customers use their driver’s license and credit card to check-in at the kiosk.
The kiosk also allows customers to review rental information, upgrade to a lager car class and perform other functions such as adding drivers.
How much time can users save?
About half, says Alamo.
Hotels and airlines have pioneered the use of kiosks, but Alamo says it is among the very car rental companies to use the technology.
