Atari developing US gaming hotels
Old school gaming geeks and eSports fans will soon be able to indulge to the max while on vacation.
Iconic console maker and gaming brand Atari is getting into the hotel biz.
The company has tapped GSD Group to develop at least eight hotels around the country in locations including Las Vegas, Austin and Chicago.
The first Atari Hotel is slated to begin construction later this year in Phoenix.
Each hotel will have a gaming theme and equipped with up to date VR and AR tech.
They will also host eSports events.
"Atari Hotels will be the first of its kind in the United States and will provide players of all ages with the highest level of entertainment and all aspects of gaming," said GSD Group CEO, Shelly Murphy.
Napoleon Smith III, producer of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ film franchise, will assist with design of the hotels.
It will have a ‘nostalgic and retro meets modern’ look, Smith said.
"Let’s face it, how cool will it be to stay inside an Atari?" Smith added.
