Auckland Airport flood still impacting flights
Auckland Airport urged only passengers booked on international flights should come to the terminal.
The airport was heavily impacted by floods on Friday and floodwater damage is still affecting some ‘critical components.’
It expects a congested terminal.
It advised families seeing off travellers to do so outside the terminal.
Those wishing to fly but without a confirmed booking should contact their airline first
After two days of disruption, about 20,000 departed on overseas flight syesterday.
Auckland Airport hopes to get about 25,000 on departing international flights today.
Dozens were stranded overnight at the airport as all roads were cut off by flood waters.
“We appreciate it’s taking time to reschedule flights, and the frustration it can cause,” airport CEO Carrie Hurihanganui said.
“Our goal remains to get people home as soon as possible.”
The airport says it will still be some days before operations return to normal.
