Australia cruise restart still ‘months away’
Cruise lines have warned not to expect a quick resumption of operations even though Health Minister Greg Hunt hinted the cruise ship ban may be lifted within weeks.
Hunt is ‘reviewing’ the ban which lasts until 18 December. Even if it is lifted, a cruise restart could still be months away.
"Cruise lines will also need several months to prepare for operations and bring ships back from other parts of the world, so there’s still work to be done," CLIA Australasia Managing Director Joel Katz said.
