British Airways cancels more flights
British Airways has cancelled further flights to and from Scotland and the north of England later today.
The airline will not operate any flights to and from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle until 19:00hrs.
However, flights to and from Aberdeen, which were suspended earlier, are now operating normally.
Ryanair says it’s ready to resume flights to Glasgow Prestwick, Edinburgh and Aberdeen after carrying out a one-hour test flight over Scotland without experiencing any difficulties. Indeed, the airline claimed there was no visible ash cloud and no evidence of ash in the air.
The latest map from the Met Office shows a medium density of ash remains over parts of Scotland and there is a low concentration over parts of northern England, the southeast of England and the southwest. However, the "red zone" of high density ash has now shifted over Germany and part of Scandinavia.
