Canada-UK open skies deal welcomed
A new open-skies agreement between the UK and Canada has been welcomed by agents.
The Association of Canadian Travel Agencies said the deal would promote more competition and lead to cheaper prices for passengers flying between the two countries.
The agreement will allow UK airlines to fly to and from Canada and onward to other destinations and vice-versa for Canadian carriers serving the UK.
ACTA public affair vice-president Christiane Theberge said: “This agreement is good news to consumers ands buisness travellers alike, who will benefit from having more destinations to more cities or city pars which are not presently serviced.”
The association, which represents 2,500 agencies, estimates that two million passengers a year travel by air between both countries.
