Celebrate BC River Launch Week

Wednesday, 13 May, 2009 0

BC River Launch Week, May 19 – 24, starts the adventure season for rafting or jet boat tours, with adventures on all the best rivers in British Columbia. It is the best time for an exciting whitewater trip through the rapids…or maybe a leisurely family float down a peaceful river.

BC rivers were once the highways of earlier times and they are still the vital arteries that carry salmon back to their spawning grounds, and witness the daily interactions of a wealth of wildlife. Modern day explorers can run the rapids or view wildlife in remote rivers in northern BC, or find easy access recreational rivers close to major centers such as Campbell River on Vancouver Island, the Nahatlatch, Kicking Horse River, or Thompson rivers in the heart of the province, or the mighty Fraser River closer to the coast.

Travelers can choose from heart thumping experiences like white water rapids, fishing with jet boat tours, multi-day camping expeditions, or relaxing on idyllic floats – near major centers or in pristine wilderness areas. Whether viewing wildlife such as eagles, grizzlies or salmon, taking a thrill ride, or choosing a multi-day expedition.

You can plan your river rafting trips and jet boat tours anywhere in the province. It is is easy and safe with BC River Outfitter Association (BCROA) members. Member companies all have certified guides trained in safety and river rescue. Prices range from $100 for half day tours ranging to $500 per day for luxury multi-day expeditions.

River rafting and jet boating are signature adventure experiences in British Columbia that attract guests worldwide. For more information, or to find a certified member company, go to www.bcroa.com
