Celebrity Cruises fights Galapagos ban
Celebrity Cruises is appealing a 60-day ban at Galapagos National Park after three crew members were accused of shark fishing.
The park prohibits commercial fishing.
While the Miami-based Celebrity does not deny the allegations, the company says it has fired the three men and that it has done nothing wrong.
“It’s totally against everything we stand for. It’s an isolated incident,” spokeswoman Lynn Martenstein told Herald.com.
The local Galapagos district attorney cleared the company of wrongdoing.
Celebrity began the Xpedition cruises to the park in 2004.
