Cruise ship guests evacuate cabins as fire breaks out
Hundreds of passengers got a rude awakening late at night after a stateroom balcony caught fire.
It led to passengers having to prepare for an evacuation.
Flames were seen coming from the balcony at around 3am on the P&O Cruises Australia cruise ship Pacific Adventure.
The ship was off the New South Wales coast.
“This fire activated emergency response procedures including a full muster of guests and crew,” a cruise line spokesperson said.
“There are no reports of injury.
It meant guests put on life vests and in evacuation mode.
The blaze was quickly extinguished and guests were allowed back to their cabins within two hours.
The cause of the blaze has not been disclosed.
The ship returned to Sydney this morning.
