Delta restarts Israel flights
Delta Air Lines resumes daily nonstop flights to Tel Aviv from New York JFK today.
It was suspended following the May 4 missile attack.
“Delta temporarily suspended flights in response to ongoing conflict in the region, and it follows an extensive security risk assessment by the airline,” the airline said.
“Delta is continuously monitoring the evolving security environment and assessing operations based on security guidance and intelligence reports.”
The airline is operating service to Tel Aviv on an Airbus A330-900neo jets.
Delta said demand is high with flights fully booked through next week.
It resumes service ahead of rival United Airlines which is set to restart twice-daily Newark-to-Tel Aviv flights next month.
“We continue to closely monitor the situation, and will make decisions on resuming service with a focus on the safety of our customers and crew,” United said.
The airline issued a travel waiver for customers with tickets to Tel Aviv b booked beforeore May 5 for travel up to and including May 25.
Other major airlines have extended Israel flight suspensions.
Lufthansa will restart flights next month while Air France resumes at the end of this week.
