Disney Cruise Line is to base its Disney Wonder ship in Seattle for summer 2012 for the first time, offering seven-night cruises to Alaska.
The 2400 passenger ship will make 14 round trips from Seattle, stopping at the Tracey Arm fjord near Juneau, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan and Victoria, British Columbia. The first cruise will depart May 28.
Disney trips appeal strongly to the first-time cruise market, particularly those with families, and the operator has identified Alaska as an appealing destination for those new to the sector.
The company’s ships typically offer bigger cabins suitable for sleeping up to five people and there is a strong programme of children’s activities.
Disney joins Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America, Princess Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean in offering summer cruises from Seattle up along the Pacific Northwest Coast.
