EasyJet annual profit rises on package holiday boost
EasyJet posted a jump in annual profits, citing high demand for package holidays.
The company’s pre-tax profit was up 9% to £665 million in the year ending 30 September.
This was despite an uncertain geopolitical and economic landscape over the last year.
Kenton Jarvis, easyJet’s CEO, said: “We delivered 9% this year through the successful execution of our strategy. EasyJet holidays is today launching an even more ambitious goal having achieved its target early.”
“Having recently celebrated our 30th birthday, I am proud of what easyJet has achieved. We are well placed to seize the significant opportunities ahead, and we are confident in achieving our medium-term goal of delivering over £1 billion in profit before tax.”
Operational performance increased by 18% or £106 million year on year (airline +£50 million, holidays +£56 million).
On time performance increased three percentage points, despite challenges with ATC strikes and staff shortages, it said.
The Board is recommending an ordinary dividend of 13.2 pence per share amounting to £100 million and is subject to shareholder approval at the AGM.
