Emirates celebrates five years in Brisbane
Emirates recently celebrated the fifth anniversary of flights to Brisbane, following a successful year and a number of new developments in Brisbane.
Jenny Trebilcock, Emirates’ Queensland Sales Manager, is thrilled about the anniversary saying, “I am very proud Emirates is celebrating five years of operation in Brisbane.” “The service has been a great success, with the Dubai to Brisbane flight bringing over 3500 passengers a week into the cityâ€.
Queensland Tourism Minister Desley Boyle said Emirates’ contribution to the Queensland aviation and tourism industry had been invaluable and the Queensland Government looked forward to growing the relationship over many more years.
“In the past five years we have seen Brisbane and Queensland change significantly as a tourism destination.”
“Emirates have continued to support this growth by investing in infrastructure such as the wonderful new international lounge as well as through their commitment to flights and services,†Ms Boyle said.
“Emirates is a world class airline and we are proud to have such a positive relationship with them,†Ms Boyle said.
Priding itself on delivering top class service, delicious food and great on-board entertainment with the state-of-the-art ice system, Emirates always strives for excellence and has been rewarded with loyal passengers.
“The Emirates service to Brisbane does not stop there”, Ms Trebilcock continued.
“Emirates has seen strong demand in Brisbane which has motivated the airline to increase flights to double daily from early next year.”
“The second daily service to Brisbane will increase weekly seat capacity to 4,400.”
“This signals Emirates’ commitment and confidence in the growth of the Brisbane route and will enable us to meet our customers’ demands and facilitate increased traffic flow between Queensland and key markets in the Middle East and Europe,†concluded Ms Trebilcock.
Another indication of Emirates’ confidence in the Brisbane market was the opening of a new Emirates First and Business Class Lounge in April this year.
The new facility allows passengers to board their aircraft direct from the Lounge – a first for Emirates in Australia.
The world’s first dedicated Emirates Lounge, outside of the international airline’s base in Dubai, was also opened in Brisbane in June of 2004.
In First and Business Class, travellers have also seen their facilities substantially upgraded in 2008. The lie-flat massage seats in Business Class are only available in Australia on flights out of Brisbane and with plenty of leg room and wide screen televisions, Emirates is the perfect choice for the executive traveller. The First Class Private Suites that launched in July offer passengers a la carte dining on demand, doors that close at the touch of a button for ultimate privacy, personal mini-bar, lie flat massage chair, vanity unit and private hanging space for clothes.
In time for the anniversary, Emirates has announced the top five most popular destinations of Brisbane travellers in 2008 were Dubai, London, Frankfurt, Paris and Rome.
