First Columbia Pictures movie theme park coming to Thailand
The seaside town of Bangsaray near Pattaya, Thailand is to get a touch of Hollywood movie glamour.
Sony Pictures Entertainment and Amazon Falls announced a 14-acre site in Bangsaay will become the world’s first Columbia Pictures theme and waterpark.
Columbia Pictures’ Aquaverse will start opening in phases from October 2021 as a theme park, aqua park and entertainment destination.
It will have themed rides and attractions from the movies Ghostbusters, Jumanji, Bad Boys, Men in Black, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Hotel Transylvania.
It will encompass eight themed zones with rides, live shows shopping and dining.
"Columbia Pictures’ Aquaverse is the next step in Sony Pictures’ larger global strategy to grow and expand location-based entertainment by utilizing its strong global film and TV brands," said Jeffrey Godsick, EVP of Global Partnerships and Brand Management and Head of Location Based Entertainment at Sony Pictures Entertainment.
We are creating opportunities for all audiences around the world to immerse themselves into our stories through water parks, and theme park attractions."
Ride highlights planned include Ghostbusters Supernatural Experience, Men in Black Thrill Rides, Bad Boys Raceway and Jumanji Jungle Adventure.
