Flight Centre Travel Group’s Americas chief Dean Smith is stepping down in the new year.

Smith plans to retire on June 30, 2020 which is the end of Flight Centre’s financial year.

Until then he will take a strategic global leisure role from January 1.

Smith has spent more than two decades at Flight Centre and was appointed president in 2009.

Charlene Leiss, who is the current head of Flight Centre’s Americas corporate brands, will succeed Smith as Americas president on January 1.

Leiss joined FCTG a decade ago when the company acquired Garber Travel.
