Florida city promotes self as a ‘natural’
At least one Florida area, Clearwater, is stressing its natural endowments to promote tourism this year, according to the area’s chamber of commerce.
The theme of the campaign: “Natural Clearwater.”
“It may come as a surprise that so many nature-based tourism opportunities exist in such a popular urban resort area, but Clearwater is an ideal destination for travelers seeking to experience the natural environment,” said Beth Coleman, President and CEO, Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce, who cited several specific attractions.
She said:
“It’s worthwhile to note, for example, that Clearwater Beach, the most popular of all the area’s beaches, and which is often cited as the best city beach on Florida’s Gulf Coast in national surveys, is consistently ranked a ‘Certified Healthy Beach’ by the National Healthy Beaches Campaign and is routinely certified a “Blue Wave” Clean Beach by the Clean Beaches Council.”
Clearwater is also home to several nature-based attractions, she said, such as the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, which is dedicated to research and animal assisted rescue and therapy.
Visitors can also tour the institute.
“One of the unique aspects of ‘natural Clearwater’ is that these attractions and many others are located within a resort area recognized world-wide for its quality accommodations and amenities,” Mrs Coleman said.
The new campaign is particularly aimed at families with children and seniors.
