Former airport exec in fake gun incident escapes criminal charges
The former airport boss who pulled a fake gun on a work colleague and subsequently resigned will not face any criminal charges.
Last month the then Lafayette regional airport aviation director Greg Roberts got into a heated argument in a meeting with the CEO of an aviation engineering company and pulled out a fake pistol, after a dispute over who was responsible for the costs of an environmental impact study.
The fake gun is used as a prop for training purposes at the airport and Roberts was the only one at the meeting aware at the time that the gun was fake.
After the meltdown, Roberts was put on administration leave and then resigned after 21 years as head of the airport authority.
The gun was pointed directly at George Glaubrecht, CEO of Domingue, Szabo & Associates, which was commissioned by the airport for work on a new Bell Helicopter facility.
Glaubrecht has since decided not to take the matter further, and no charges will be brought, according to district attorney Mike Harson.
"We have discussed the matter with the victim and he has indicated a desire to drop the matter and not pursue; we will follow his wishes," Harson said.
