Four-legged friends offer winter rides
A winter highlight at the luxurious Siwash Lake Ranch in British Columbia is a dog sled ride pulled by a team of four-legged friends.
Guests at the resort get a chance to guide a team of Siberian huskies through a backdrop of frosted trees and snow-filled landscapes. Veteran mushers come along to help.
The resort deep in the Canadian Cariboo country is surrounded by 80,000 acres of pristine rangeland.
Other winter activities at the resort include ice fishing or skating on Siwash Lake, snow skiing or cross country skiing.
Rooms have country antiques and Egyptian linens and eiderdown duvets. Some rooms have deep soaking tubs and lake views. Homemade muffins are part of the gourmet meals.
From December to February, the ranch offers a Winter Wonderland escape that includes three meals a day. Rates start at $430 a night.
