German carrier launches UK routes
German no-frills carrier Air Berlin is to enter the UK domestic market by creating a transfer hub at Stansted.
Europe’s third largest low cost carrier plans flights to Germany from Glasgow and Manchester via the Essex airport from December 16.
Air Berlin serves seven German destinations from Stansted plus Majorca and Vienna with Austrian partner Niki.
The airline is also considering serving other UK destinations using the same method.
Air Berlin is also starting direct flights from Bournemouth to Paderborn on December 17.
