Heathrow makes passenger fee pledge as earnings rise 7%
Heathrow says it is working to keep its charges ‘close to current levels’ if it wins planning approval for a third runway.
Speaking as it revealed an almost 7% rise in first half pre-tax earnings to £835 million, the airport’s chief executive John Holland-Kaye said passenger charges in the first six months had fallen 2.3%.
"Our passengers are getting better value and service, more British trade is flying high on new trading links and our expansion plans are on track," he said.
"The Government set us the challenge to expand Britain’s hub while keeping airport charges close to current levels.
"Working with airlines, we are making good progress to meet this challenge whilst delivering all our local commitments and the global connections our country needs."
Heathrow handled a record number of passengers in the first six months of the year when traffic was up 3.9% to 37.1 million.
It saw new services from Flybe and new long-haul destinations such as Portland and New Orleans.
