Heritage Le Telfair in Mauritius joins SLH’s ‘Considerate Collection’ sustainable hotel portfolio
Mauritius resort Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness is joining the ‘Considerate Collection’ from the Small Luxury Hotels of the World brand.
‘Considerate Collection’ is a new community of sustainable hand-picked luxury hotels.
Hotels in the ‘Considerate Collection’ focus on implementing new standards that meet their corporate commitment to sustainability.
Heritage Le Telfair has been Green Key certified since 2016.
Remarking on this nomination, Christophe Ramdiane, General Manager of Heritage Le Telfair, said: ‘This ranking is a further testament to our commitment and dedication to providing a unique, sustainable and conscious experience for the enjoyment of our guests and benefit of our local communities.”
Since the reopening of the borders, Heritage Resorts has become the first Mauritian hospitality group to offer totally carbon neutral hotel stays in Mauritius through its Heritage hotels.
It offsets CO2 emissions of all stays.
It is achieved through the purchase of carbon credits with the Aera Group as well as through local ‘carbon compensation’ projects, including the construction of a photovoltaic farm and the reforestation of currently unused land.
Heritage Le Telfair is also engaged in improving its waste management program through recycling initiatives.
Glass, plastic, coffee capsules, paper, cardboard and cooking oil are recycled.
Additionally, Heritage Le Telfair’s boat house team members have received extensive training in sustainable development related to lagoon preservation and the water sports menu has been upgraded to include a new solar powered glass bottom boat and electric pedal boats.
