Hotel guests shop very differently when choosing business or leisure
A new hotel study found almost two-thirds of respondents had very different criteria for choosing a business trip compared to a leisure journey.
“Hotels chosen for business trips tend to be more ‘practical’ and ‘price driven,’ while hotels chosen for leisure are more luxurious and price is much less of an issue,” concluded the study by Small Luxury Hotels of the World which sampled 3,500 members of it’s Club.
Many Club members said that when traveling for leisure they prefer “unique” and “romantic” properties as they are usually traveling with a spouse or significant other.
Although there is a bit of a discrepancy in buying habits between business trips and leisure trips, one respondent summed it up; “Life is too short for bad hotels.”
Respondents agreed that experiences on vacation are “very important.” For cultural activities, culinary, spa-related and outdoor/adventure ranked high.
Access to behind-the-scenes tours, private areas and places only locals might visit or shop also rated high.
“It is quite clear from the survey results that luxury travelers do not want to just sit still; rather discerning guests want to be intrigued, entertained and enlightened,” said Paul Kerr, Joint Managing Director of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
Small Luxury Hotels of the World is an exclusive brand of more than 400 independent, luxury hotels offering a variety of memorable experiences in 65 countries.
