Is soda pop the next casualty?
The latest twisted move for airlines to cut costs is Northwest Airlines Corp. removing its pretzels on domestic flights.
Starting June 9, coach passengers who want anything other than soda will have to pay for it. Bags of trail mix will sell for $1.
And soda pop? A spokesman for Northwest said that should continue to be free.
He said eliminating free pretzels should save Northwest $2 million a year.
Northwest, the nation’s fourth-largest airline, lost $458 million in the last quarter. The airline operates more than 1,500 flights per day worldwide.
