Major airlines offer sale prices through today
Air travelers have until the end of today to save money with a choice of fare sales among most of the major US Airlines. For example:
Earlier this week, Southwest Airlines Co., and its AirTran subsidiary kicked off a sale. Prices range from a low of $98 to $278 for round trips, depending on distance. The sale covers travel from Aug. 13 through Nov. 14.
Soon, United, Delta, American, US Airways, JetBlue, Alaska and Virgin America matched the sale.
Southwest Airlines’ own version of the sale offers flights priced as low as $49, some of which are as close as 500 miles.
Travel experts said the sales offer good deals, according to the AP. That is despite the fact the sales come after children are back in school during a slower period for the airlines.
"Looks like (airlines) need the money and travelers are balking at the higher fares they’ve been seeing," said airfarewatchdog.com founder George Hobica.
