Marriott has given its mobile app a refresh offering a more customized experience for loyalty members.

The app ‘dynamically adjusts to personalize’ the experience for Marriott Rewards members via appropriate content through each stage of the consumer journey, from trip planning, booking, in transit and during a hotel stay.

"Smart devices are now everyone’s indispensable travel companion, as more and more travelers increasingly expect to have their needs satisfied using their mobile phone," said George Corbin, senior vice president of digital at Marriott International.

"Marriott is using mobile to introduce and revolutionize the next generation of customer service to travelers worldwide, delivering a far more personalized and anticipatory stay experience."

The updated Marriott Mobile app is available on iOS in multiple languages.

New features include the ability to request room upgrades when checking in using the app and request a late check-out in the app which is guaranteed for Gold and Platinum elite members.

Guests can also chat directly through the app with hotel staff prior, during and after their stay.

Following the app relaunch, Marriott plans to expand the Mobile Key function to up 500 hotels globally this year.
