MONDAY ASH ALERT – crisis costs TUI Travel £20m
The volcanic ash crisis has cost TUI Travel around £20 million so far and is likely to rise by £5-£6 million a day while flights remain grounded.
The Thomson Holidays and First Choice parent disclosed the financial impact of the Icelandic volcanic eruption, saying that 100,000 holidaymakers remained stranded overseas up until yesterday (Sunday).
"The welfare of our customers is paramount and the group is providing appropriate assistance to all those in resort whose return home has been delayed," TUI said.
