Nick Hughes named as new TIPTO chairman
Gold Medal/Travel2 sales director Nick Hughes will take over as TIPTO chairman from September.
He will replace Jane Atkins, who has decided to step down after a three-year stint in the role.
Hughes has more than 25 years in the travel industry, having previously working at Attraction World, Affordable Car Hire, JTA Travel Management, Bourne Leisure and Holiday Autos and others.
He was responsible for bringing the Gold Medal/Travel 2 brands back into TIPTO last year. He has a long connection with the trade body, first getting involved in 2000, a year after its inception, working under previous chairs including John Harding and Ian Mounser.
"Taking on the role of TIPTO Chairman is an honour and I’m delighted to have been voted in by current members," he said. "We have just celebrated TIPTO’s 20th year, which has been its most successful to date, so I hope to utilise my industry experience to start where Jane leaves off and support the leadership team in driving TIPTO forward."
Atkins added: "I’m delighted to be handing the TIPTO reins to someone so well liked and respected within the industry. Nick’s vast experience will bring a great dynamic to TIPTO and I know his supportive nature will work well with the leadership team to take TIPTO to the next level.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Chair, it’s a challenge I’ve relished for the past three years and I’m confident this new leadership can only mean great things for TIPTO in the years to come."
