Ocean Medallion tech coming to Island Princess

Princess Cruises’ is bringing the new Ocean Medallion class innovation to Alaska.

Island Princess will be the fourth vessel to get the wearable Ocean Medallion tech which offers a more personalized onboard experience.

It will debut on the ship in May 2018 when it embarks on an Alaska cruise season.

It follows Princess ships Regal Princess which launches the service later this year, Royal Princess and Caribbean Princess.

"As the leading cruise line in Alaska, it’s fitting that our fourth ship to feature Medallion Class Ocean Vacations is Island Princess," said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises’ president.

"Sailing on our most popular Voyage of the Glaciers itinerary, our guests will enjoy the best Alaska has to offer and enjoy an elevated cruise vacation experience — connecting each other and the extraordinary people and culture of the ‘Great Land’ in a more memorable way."

The Ocean Medallion offers the Ocean Compass digital concierge which helps guests find their way around the ship and make bookings for restaurants, shore excursions and spa treatments.

Food and beverage orders can be made from anywhere as crew members can hone in on the location of specific guests via the tech.

It can also be used for guests to locate loved ones on the ship and a messaging feature allows friends and family to communicate in real time.
