‘Perfect ship-mates’ to name Ocean Village Two
Supermodel Jodie Kidd and her celebrity make-up artist sister Jemma are to be godmothers to Ocean Village’s second ship.
They have been chosen for the ceremony in Southampton on April 24, joining a select band of cruise ship godmothers including the Queen, other royality, Dames of the realm and actresses.
The celebrations will see specially invited guests attend an evening of entertainment including stand up comedy and the premiere of a new dance show as well as performances from 1980s disco divas Jaki Graham and Angie Brown.
The festivities will culminate in the ceremony which will see Jodie and Jemma officially name Ocean Village’s sister ship as Ocean Village Two. The company has invited 1,000 travel agents to the naming and will have 2,500 agents visiting the new ship prior to its debut cruise.
After the naming, Ocean Village Two will embark on its maiden voyage from Southampton on April 25, sailing to Gibraltar, Cartagena (Spain) and Barcelona before arriving at its summer base in Palma, Majorca.
Ocean Village managing director Peter Shanks said: “We feel Jodie and Jemma make the perfect ship-mates for Ocean Village Two with their zest for life and the fact that they’re both into the high adrenaline, fun activities which Ocean Village is famous for.”
