Peru reinforces its tourism leadership at the World Travel Awards 2025 with 5 wins
Peru confirmed its position as an unmissable tourist destination by winning five awards at the 2025 edition of the World Travel Awards. These distinctions highlight the country’s cultural, gastronomic, and natural richness and confirm its prominence on the international tourist scene.
Among the awards received, Peru was distinguished as the Best Culinary Destination in the World 2025, reflecting the excellence and diversity of its gastronomy. In the regions of Lima, Arequipa, or Loreto, visitors can savor unique dishes that blend Andean, Amazonian, and coastal ingredients, transforming each meal into a true cultural and sensory experience.
The country was also recognized as the Best Cultural Destination in the World 2025, highlighting the richness of its heritage. Travelers can discover communities that preserve living traditions, crafts, and festivities, participate in local festivals, visit artisan workshops, and explore the Inca, Amazonian, and colonial influences.
The famous Machu Picchu has won the title of Best World Tourist Attraction 2025, confirming its status as a global icon.
To this is added the triumph of Lima, which was distinguished as the Best Heritage City in the World 2025, reaffirming the cultural and heritage appeal of the Peruvian capital. Its Historic Center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, reveals an exceptional collection of colonial buildings such as the Cathedral of Lima, the Convent of San Francisco, its catacombs, and the elegant wooden balconies that make the city’s architectural fame.
Finally, PROMPERÚ, the Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Commission, was named Best World Tourism Office 2025, reflecting the institution’s efficiency and commitment to promoting the country as a top destination on an international scale.
Travel Awards distinctions, an opportunity for a Peru complete discovery tour
These distinctions offer a glimpse of what travelers can discover in Peru. For tourists inspired by these accolades, a well-rounded itinerary is then key.
Lima invites travelers to explore its gastronomic districts of Miraflores and Barranco and discover the richness of its cultural and historical heritage. Northern Peru, particularly the regions of La Libertad and Lambayeque, offers an immersion into the heart of a rich cultural heritage, marked by ancestral civilizations and emblematic sites that bear witness to the country’s pre-Columbian history. The rural areas of the Andes and the Amazon, on the other hand, offer authentic and sustainable cultural experiences, in contact with the local population and their traditions.
Equally important is leaving space for spontaneity: sharing a meal at a local market, talking with artisans, or sampling regional drinks often becomes the most memorable part of a trip. With Peru now firmly positioned among the world’s top destinations, travelers can also take advantage of high-quality accommodations and well-established tour services, adding confidence and comfort to the experience.
