Qantas announces new and revised Frequent Flyer Programme

Although Geoff Dixon is holding a press conference later today, some of the details of Qantas’ new FF programme have been revealed, with the key element being that programme members can now redeem points on any available Qantas or Jetstar seat under anew programme called “Any Seat”, following in the footsteps of Virgin Blue’s Velocity Programme.

The Any Seat programme will offer a what is described as a dynamic quote, only available at that time and the number of points will vary by the seat required, destination, time and date of the flight, with higher demand seats requiring more points.

Qantas added that there is no fixed relationship between the price charged for a particular seat and the points required under the Any Seat programme, with members also able to add cash to points through a new “points plus pay” option.

While the new Any Seat system is available immediately on www.qantas.com.au, the former system will also stay in place as the “Classic Awards” programme.

The Qantas Frequent Flyer Store has also expanded its range to more than 700 products, experiences and gift vouchers,
