Qantas launches Johannesburg flights from WA
Qantas has kicked off a new direct long haul route connecting Johannesburg to Western Australia.
The Perth flights to Johannesburg join the established service from Sydney.
The Perth direct route adds nearly 80,000 seats a year.
Qantas is operating the route on Airbus A330s.
According to Qantas CEO Cam Wallace, the Perth flight cuts travel time to just under 10 hours.
It has been hailed by South African Minister of Tourism Patricia de Lille.
“The more flights we get, the more seats we get and the more people in the seats we get helps us grow our tourism numbers.”
