Queenstown enjoys early snow boost
Twenty-four hours of heavy snowfall have covered ski areas in Queenstown before the start of the winter season in the New Zealand South Island city.
Destination Queenstown CEO Graham Budd said: "We only get snow downtown a few times a year so it’s always a treat for locals and visitors."
Coronet Peak is scheduled to open on June 8 and the other local ski fields will follow soon after.
Queenstown’s season will officially launch on June 21 with the 10-day American Express Queenstown Winter Festival.
