Santiago Holy Year to draw crowds
SINGAPORE – Next to the Holy Land, the pilgrimage route to Santiago is best known and most travelled route in the Christian world. The pilgrimage visits the resting place of St. James, the apostle.
2010 is a Santiago Holy Year.
The remains of St. James are enshrined in the cathedral in
Santiago. The Holy Door, which gives access to the cathedral from the Plaza de la Quintana, is opened on December 31 on the eve of each Holy Year, and walled up again a year later.
The next Holy Year will be in 2021.
