Shanghai Disneyland set to welcome its 10th millionth visitor
Shanghai Disneyland is nearing another new milestone with the arrival of its 10 millionth visitor.
It comes sooner than expected after a steady, if unspectacular.start.
"As the resort has become a true national destination in China, attendance is outpacing our most optimistic projections and the park’s performance is exceeding our expectations," said Disney CEO Bob Iger.
"The addition of the new Toy Story Land will add to the park’s popularity … and it’s just the first of several planned expansions in Shanghai."
Operating income across its parks and resorts grew 20% driven by strong performance at the Shanghai park, said CFO Christine McCarthy.
Overall it reported second quarter net income of $2.3 billion.
