Silverjet achives 45% load factor in first month

All business class newcomer Silverjet carried almost 3,000 passengers at a 45% load factor in its first month of operations.

The figures for the month of February for transatlantic flights between Luton and Newark show that 5,100 seats were available and 2,911 passengers were carried. The 45% load factor excluded passengers on promotional or discounted fares.

Forward bookings are described by CEO Lawrence Hunt as being “substantially ahead” of initial expectations with yields in line with forecasts. This gave the airline “high confidence” in future passenger numbers and yields.

Hunt went on to prasie the travel trade for its “fantastic support” together with “overwhelmingly positive feedback” from passengers in four key sectors – small/medium-szied businesses, up market leisure, connecting and corporate.

“These are outstanding results after only a full month of operation,” said Hunt.

The airline charges a lead-in of £999 return to Newark with 30 minute check-ins and 6ft 3inch seat-beds on board.
