Spirit Airlines rolling out extra legroom seats
Spirit Airlines is moving further away from its one size fits all budget airline past.
The airline plans to offer new extra legroom seats, starting this summer.
The new seats will go on sale this month for travel on some routes in June.
The extra legroom seats will become part of the Go Comfy fare bundle.
The seat pitch for the seats is 32 inch compared to the stand seat of 28 inch pitch.
“Spirit’s new premium options offer travelers exceptional value, and we’re creating even more opportunities for guests to experience them with our new extra-legroom seating option,” said Rana Ghosh, Chief Commercial Officer at Spirit Airlines.
“We’re also adding more value and perks for our loyalty members, giving our most loyal guests more reasons to choose Spirit.”
“The new extra pitch seating make up seven rows near the front of the aircraft numbering more than 40 seats.
The new seating will be installed starting June 2025 and rolled out across most of the fleet by the following month.
When the extra legroom rows go live, the airline will stop blocking off middle seats which is the current perk offered to Go Comfy ticketholders.
The Go Comfy fares will continue to include a free carry-on bag, no change fees, and priority boarding.
The first flights with extra legroom rows start on July 9.
