SriLankan to become BA partner
SriLankan Airlines is to join the oneworld alliance, which includes British Airways and nine other airlines.
SirLankan is expected to implemented into the alliance late next year, adding three new southern India destinations to the oneworld network.
The 200,000 members of its FlySmiLes frequent flyer programme will be able to earn and redeem rewards on any of oneworld’s other carriers and top tier members will be able to use any of the group’s 550-plus airport lounges.
SriLankan operates a fleet of 21 aircraft to 34 destinations across Asia, Europe and the Middle East and is the largest international airline flying to the Maldives. It also has a significant presence in southern India.
The airline, which has almost doubled in size since fighting ceased in its home country three years ago, plans a further expansion of its fleet and network in the next few years.
