Stand-in boss for Travelcare
Co-operative Group specialist retail division head of information systems and business transformation Mark Hale is to be acting general manager of Travelcare.
He will take charge of the 370-branch agency chain and its associate businesses while Amanda Williams is on maternity leave.
Williams, who starts maternity leave later this month and plans to return later in the year, said: “Mark has been extensively involved in Travelcare and the travel marketplace and knows the business well. His range of experience in technology, management change and people management will serve Travelcare well in the challenging months ahead.”
Hale will also assume Williams’s duties as a member of the Co-operative Travel Trading Group’s management board.
Travelcare’s activities include the retail branches, five call centres and the operation of subsidiaries, Just Flights, Medinland, Magic Breaks, cheapestflights and Security Travel. Hale has been involved in the development of a common e-commerce platform for the businesses, the implementation of a single retail booking system across all brands and the implementation of Travelcare’s dynamic packaging system, Escape.
