The Verandah Antigua stands out as a premier adult-only, all-inclusive resort that delivers an exceptional blend of Caribbean tranquillity and a wealth of amenities.

This makes it an ideal recommendation for the UK travel trade seeking a reliable, high-quality product for discerning clients. How did the reality live up to the expectation?

Warmth and helpfulness of staff

The immediate standout feature of the resort was the consistently warm and helpful attitude of the staff which was a reflection of the spirit you find the minute you land in Antigua. From the first sip of the welcome Rum Punch in reception, I was met with genuine hospitality, and the entire team consistently went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable.

Staff members showed patience, insight, and a readiness to offer specific recommendations, helping  me feel at home which is huge plus point when visiting for the first time. What I appreciated most was their sense of humour and the ease with which all the staff engaged in friendly banter. This attentive, personable service helped define the Verandah experience – allowing guests to settle effortlessly into Antigua’s relaxed way of life. I was ‘liming!’

Culinary variety, especially Nicole’s Restaurant

Given the all-inclusive nature of the resort, dining at The Verandah is of course another of the key factors. The resort has over five restaurants, each offering a different culinary experience. Nicole’s Restaurant, in particular, is renowned for its fine gourmet dining in an upscale, contemporary setting—perfect for special occasions or a romantic evening (note: a surcharge applies).

Guests can also enjoy Italian fare at Portofino, casual seafood at Sails & Tales, pizzas at Papa Ricco’s, and classic beach grill favourites. The main buffet at Seabreeze offers a wide range of international dishes, ensuring there’s something to suit every palate and for ease was the one I used more often than not. The advantage being you got to know the staff very quickly and they you. From the third day at breakfast I did not even have to speak the words ‘two eggs over easy please’ as I was greeted by a beaming smile and a nod of the head by the morning chef.

Peaceful ambience and great views

Set across 30 acres of mature, palm-studded gardens and indented coastlines, the resort exudes peace and seclusion. The rooms—whether Hillside, Waterview, or Waterfront Suites—are spacious, clean, and offer outstanding views over the Caribbean Sea or lush tropical gardens. Private verandas invite guests to soak in the scenery, and the tranquil atmosphere is perfect for those seeking relaxation away from the crowds. I used my private space to watch the hummingbirds get their fill of nectar on the variety of flora and fauna on display.

Adults-Only tranquillity and on-site sports bar

As an adults-only property (16+), the resort is a chill out zone with the notable absence of noise, hustle, bustle and general disturbance. That is not to say that there is not excitement and fun. Almost every night the main bar has the general buzz of conviviality and just a few yards away the Wavy Wicket Pub serves as an on-site sports bar, complete with big-screen TVs, bar games, and a vibrant atmosphere.

Activities and Accessibility

On offer every day is an impressive array of activities, from water sports (kayaking, paddle boarding, Hobie Cat sailing) to pickleball, mini golf, and the aforementioned evening entertainment in the main bar. While for many people the resort itself is the only destination they want to visit I always want to get off site and in Antigua the rewards are manyfold. From Nelsons Dockyard, where his fleet sheltered during the stormy season, to the Sir Viv Richards Stadium for first-class cricket, it’s worth noting that most off-site attractions are a minimum of 40 minutes away by car on ‘interesting’ roads that pass-through village centres with quaint shops and rum shacks.

Summary

So, what’s the verdict? For UK travel professionals seeking to sell holidays to Antigua, The Verandah is a convincing choice for adults seeking a friendly, peaceful, and activity-rich Caribbean escape, with on-site dining, stunning views, and a genuinely welcoming team. The combination of tranquillity, service, and amenities ensures high levels of guest satisfaction, and one would hope, repeat business.
