Thomas Cook director joins ABTA Board
Thomas Cook Group quality and safety director John de Vial has been elected to the Board of ABTA, The Travel Association.
He has worked in the travel industry for almost 30 years and has held senior managerial and directorial roles at three of the UK’s leading tour operators.
ABTA chief executive Mark Tanzer said: “John’s experience and expertise will be invaluable. I look forward to working with him as we continue in our efforts to make ABTA the essential travel industry body”
De Vial has already worked closely with ABTA in the past, both as a director and as a Council and Committee member, and also served as a Benevolent Fund trustee.
He is a director of the Federation of Tour Operators and served as an ATIPAC committee member at the Civil Aviation Authority with a brief to advise Government and the CAA on financial protection issues.
Commenting on his election, he said: “I’m honoured to have been appointed to the ABTA Board. I’ve had a long association with ABTA and I’m very pleased to be able to continue that association and contribute to the ongoing success of ABTA.”
