Trip planners rate terrorism far more important than gas prices

Thursday, 06 Nov, 2006 0

Travelers’ concerns about terrorism far outweigh another recent issue: rising gas prices.

Sixty-one percent of travelers consider the threat of terrorism an important factor when choosing where to go on their vacations.

But only 25% of travelers consider the cost of fuel important in making that decision, according to TripAdvisor’s annual travel trend survey.

Other findings:

  • More travelers than ever want to head for the beach, with 59% planning that vacation compared to 52% last year.

  • Travelers continue to break their banks. Eighty-six percent said budget was an important consideration when making travel plans, but 46% said they went beyond what they wanted to spend.

  • Shopping remains popular for travelers. Sixty-four percent of travelers report bringing along an additional piece of luggage to pack items purchased while on vacation.
