Tunisia visitor numbers recover post revolution

Sunday, 21 Dec, 2012 0

UK visitor numbers to Tunisia have bounced back following the Jasmine Revolution, the tourist board claimed today.

So far this year, 318,138 visitors from the UK have arrived in Tunisia, a 45.7% increase over 2011.

Wahida Jaiet, director of the Tunisian National Tourist Office for the UK and Ireland, said the UK was now the country’s third most important market, adding: "We all know tourism in Tunisia took a hit following the Jasmine Revolution, but British visitors have been quick to return.

"We still have the sandy beaches and thousands of years of history that have attracted visitors for many years; but add to that the fascinating recent history. We are struggling to pave the way to democracy but tourism is on the right track!

Fox Kalomaski Crossing, a creative integrated communications company, has this week launched a new website for TNTO with the theme "There’s more to celebrate".
