Vigils held after London Bridge terror attack

Tuesday, 02 Dec, 2019 0

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has joined London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan, opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn and other politicians at a vigil for the two people killed in Friday’s terror attack at London Bridge.

A vigil also took place in Cambridge, where the two who died had studied.

Cambridge University graduates Saskia Jones and Jack Merritt were stabbed to death by Usman Khan, a convicted terrorist, at nearby Fishmongers’ Hall, and three people were taken to hospital with stab wounds.

Khan, who was released from prison last December, was later shot dead by police on London Bridge.

Workers at offices nearby were told by police to stay put during and after the attack. They included staff at PR company Four Communications, which has a number of travel clients, and is based in St Thomas Street, opposite Borough Market.

The London Bridge area, where tourists visit the popular Borough Market, was the scene of another terror attack in June 2017 in which eight people were killed.
