Virgin Voyages joins Tipto
Virgin Voyages is joining trade membership organisation Tipto.
The new, adult-only cruise line joins as it targets an August launch, delayed from April 2020.
The line is highly supportive of its ‘First Mates’ (travel agents), and has invested significantly over the past year in agent resources.
It is increasing commission to 16% and giving away 11,000 free cruises to agents.
It plans to further promote the Virgin Voyages brand and itineraries via Tipto’s reach to agents and homeworkers at nationwide events and online activity.
This will complement the cruise line’s planned agency visits, webinars, and its Seacademy e-learning programme.
The line’s first ship, Scarlet Lady, will now set sail in August on its Summer Soiree Series of sailings from Portsmouth, before heading to its Miami base.
Virgin’s second ship Valiant Lady and third ship Resilient Lady will be sailing in the Med next year.
Shane Riley, Associate Vice President – International Sales said: “First Mates (travel agents) are a vital part of our business, and we believe they will be more important than ever before. Joining Tipto will allow us to have a structured approach to reaching more independent agencies and homeworkers.”
“As a new product we believe it will be beneficial for agents to get to know our team and learn more about what makes Setting Sail the Virgin way so different”.
“The Virgin Voyages brand is widely recognised and we look forward to that awareness growing further and assisting in increased sales,” said Tipto chairman Nick Hughes.
