Warm weather destinations win top spots in airfare and hotel savings
A slow winter season has led travel providers to discount trips to warm weather destinations like Hawaii, the Florida Keys and Las Vegas, reports the new January 2013 Hotwire Travel Savings Indicator, released today.
In the hotel category, Datona wins top price drop spot with an 8% drop, followed by the Florida Keys with a 6% decrease in hotel price. Hotwire says a warm winter in the US Northeast is one of the prime reasons for the price decrease.

In the airfare category, Hawaii wins. The survey points to every island seeing a big drop in airfare prices. More competition in the field (United, Hawaiian, Delta and Alaska) translates into more seats and better deals.
