American Queen Voyages clarifies vaccination policy for international guests
As the US opens its borders to European leisure travellers on 8 November, American Queen Voyages has clarified its mandatory Covid-19 vaccination policy, applicable to all guests and crew, onboard all vessels in the fleet.
Acceptable are all Covid-19 vaccines currently approved or authorised by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Covid-19 vaccines that have been listed for use by the World Health Organization.
All vaccines used in Europe are on this list including Pfizer, Astra Zeneca, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson. Mixed vaccine doses are also accepted.
People must be fully vaccinated at time of embarkation.
Fully vaccinated is defined as at least two weeks elapsed from the second dose of a two-dose schedule (including mixed) and there cannot be less than 17 days between dose one and two.
Single dose vaccines are also acceptable at least two weeks after the vaccination. American Queen Voyages is following the guidance of the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
American Queen Voyages comprises American Queen Voyages River, American Queen Voyages Lakes & Ocean and American Queen Voyages Expedition.
Riverboats the American Queen, American Duchess and American Countess sail the Mississippi and its tributaries, and the American Empress cruises the Columbia and Snake rivers.
In addition, small identical ships the Victory I and Victory II cruise the Great Lakes. Expedition ship Ocean Victory will make its debut with American Queen Voyages in May 2022 cruising Alaskan waters.
American Queen Voyages is represented in the UK and Europe by river cruise specialist Light Blue Travel.
Light Blue Travel Managing director Rupert Thomson said: "American Queen Voyages was one of the first cruise lines to introduce a mandatory vaccination policy for not just passengers but also all crew. With US borders opening to European leisure travellers on the 8 November it is timely to clarify what counts as fully vaccinated and it’s reassuring to those who had mixed vaccines."
