Chinese tourist kidnapped from hotel
Already strained relations between China and Malaysia over the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines’ MH370 have not been improved by the abduction of a Chinese tourist from a holiday resort in Malaysia’s eastern state of Sabah.
Malaysia has confirmed that a female Chinese tourist and a female Filipino resort worker were abducted by a group suspected to be rebels from a neighbouring island. Police are investigating the incident.
About 60 Chinese and European tourists were in the hotel at the time of the abduction.
One witness saw the alleged kidnappers escaped in a boat, and said the women were screaming for help.
