Cruise passenger rescued after falling overboard
A Sun Princess cruise passenger who went overboard in the Pacific Ocean has been rescued after an hour in the water.
Crew were alerted and life rings were thrown into the ocean and the ship then turned around and launched a boat to rescue her.
Cruise ship entertainer Will Martin caught the dramatic rescue on video and posted it to Facebook.
"It is unknown at this stage whether she fell accidentally or jumped intentionally. The ‘Man Overboard’ announcement came from the bridge shortly thereafter, and the ship was turned around in the hopes of finding the person," Martin told 1 NEWS.
"Two life rings were deployed, to mark the approximate location of where the passenger went in. It only took about 15 minutes for the ship to completely turn around and make it back to the same area."
The ship is on a 11-day Pacific cruise from Brisbane, Australia.
