Flight diverted due to ‘smelly’ new carpet
The ‘strong odour’ which led to crew diverting a Lufthansa flight came from a new carpet.
A flight from Stockholm to Frankfurt was diverted to Copenhagen after crew became concerned about a strong odour on board, reports airline incident website, the Aviation Herald.
But on investigation, maintenance found that the odour originated from a newly installed carpet.
The aircraft landed safely at Copenhagen and passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
It later left Copenhagen for Germany with just the flight crew on board, arriving at Frankfurt with a delay of nearly three hours.
Lufthansa has not commented on the incident.
